I’ve been spending all of last month collating the videos and pictures of the young writers who contributed to the anthologies The Firebirds Sing and Griffins and Gabbar Singh. I’ll be adding them to my social media pages soon and I am super-excited about it.
Many of the students who joined are first-time writers and it was just great to see the joy in their faces when their stories came out. I remember the time when I wrote a poem about a peacock and I waited and waited with bated breath for it to be published in The Young Times, a magazine in Dubai. For me Tuesdays were all about this writerly anxiety.
When the poem finally came out, I started working on another story and so this continued. The value of publication lies in the creation of writing habits. In the long run, publication is a tough nut to crack but when you are young, your dreams drive you.
I’m hosting another creative workshop for young ones from 8-16 from April 23, 2022. The best part is that you never know what the new batch will bring!
